Here is my spotted pleco (kids call him Plecky) who is actually around 7 inches long. I got him/her to clean the glass of the tank, but sometimes I wonder. He seems to be better at eating my driftwood and plants, than cleaning the glass. One thing is for sure I hardly ever find a dead fish. They just seam to disappear, and I am sure he is the reason.  Posted by Hello

I think you are right. The pleco cleans up any dead bodies before I get to them. Other than the odd floater.

Came from your site through BlogsCanada and was shocked to see my pleco on your site! :-)
Actually, I'm very new to having an acquarium (see: http://karenruby.typepad.com/weblog/2005/03/aquarium_part_i.html) and didn't even know I had a pleco. I just pointed at the one I wanted in the store.
So, thanks for posting the picture so that now I can tell what kind of fish I have. It looks like you know what you're doing with that huge aquarium.
